Lawrence
Christopher "Kit" Menkin
In school, he was called
"Larry". His friends and relatives call him "Kit".
When he was a musician, he went by L.C. Menkin. Later,
he started signing
forms as Christopher Menkin, not to confuse being a second Lawerence Menkin, the
name of his father (who had no middle name).
He was named after Christopher
"Kit" Carson. His father was writing the Kit Carson weekly network
radio series. He wanted him to be called "Kit". His mother wanted
him to be called "Christopher," where the nickname "Kit"
comes from.
When he was young, his mother would call out "CHRISTOPHER!",
and he knew he was in trouble not only by the sound of her voice, but also because
she was not calling him by his nickname.
